The Candidate America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs 2008


In 2007, I have wrote a post about Americans Vs Europeans Best Entrepreneurs 2007, now in August 2008 BusinessWeek has released the candidates of The Best America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs 2008.

On this post I just want to make short summary profiles of candidates which the main business on online business or the major in online services, because some of them running offline business. Let start from Brian …


Brian Pedone Name: Brian Pedone
Age: 23 years
Company: ABP Software

Beside as founder of ABP Software, He also just developed web application NeedMyPasword.com which the main services is storing and retrieve password. At least 2000 members has been registered on his online password management.


anik singal Name: Anik Singal
Age: 25 years
Company: Affiliate Classroom

This guy is very popular among internet marketer, He is founder of Affiliate Class Room that announced in 2005. The main business is give affiliate marketing online course with charges monthly fee $30/month. In 2007 he had around $1.5 million in revenue. While in 2008, he expecting to get $2.5 to $2.8 Millions in revenues.

Bleacher Report is a kind of Sport Web Portal, but the truly is The Open Sources Sport Network. In 2007, after leaving their jobs, the four guys decided back to their hometown make portal which contents provide by sport fans, actually when it begin they hire amateur writers.

The Traffic site is close to 1,5 Millions UV(Unique Visitor) per month since start 10 months ago, and to monetizing the portal sell advertising spots. Some investors has interested to funding, in November they will get $1,5 Million from local angel investors.

This is one of my favorite, they still 21 years at same old. But the just developting cool web services. They name it “Grooveshark”, the place to listen music for FREE, if you discover the features you will meet tons of free music, you can search, listen, favorite it, share and download it. Total almost almost 5 millions of songs.

When it start in 2006 and for beta version in 2007, 600 records label joined allow to be sold on their network. Tarantino said, ” I expects the site to be profitable within 6 to 12 months from music download sales and advertising”.

knetwit founder

Name: Benjamin Wald and Dean “Tyler” Jenks
Age: 21 years and 22 years
Company: Knetwit

There are so many Social Network places, but we have to forgot it. The next history of Web-based services is “Kwonledge Sharing”. When two fraternity brother meet and come from same University with same “Drop out” status, it doesn’t make Wald and Tyler become desperate. They just make new step developing “Knetwit”, the place to college student upload their class notes (kind of materials created for their studies)

Knetwit has grow to 22 employees and has raised Five Millions ($5 Millions) through the venture capitalists and angel investors.

Most of young enterpreneurs now are success from websites. No wonder why computer major study has many applicants.
